National Media Group has licensed numerous newspaper titles, including the Daily News, The Mercury, Sunday Tribune, Independent on Saturday, Isolezwe, Post Cape Times, Cape Argus, Daily Voice, Weekend Argus, The Star, Saturday Star, Post Plus, Pretoria News, Business Report, and Personal Finance. According to National Media Group, "These titles, together with the forthcoming launch of The National, NMG’s new premium national news brand, will form part of a full portfolio spanning daily, weekend, regional, and national publications." The group stated it believes a strong, independent, and innovative news media sector is essential to South Africa’s democracy and economic development.
Portfolio and Future Vision
National Media Group has secured licensing rights from Sagarmatha Technologies for a portfolio of South African newspaper titles. The company stated, "These titles, together with the forthcoming launch of The National, NMG’s new premium national news brand, will form part of a full portfolio spanning daily, weekend, regional, and national publications." The group expects to create more than 200 additional new jobs as part of its expansion. National Media Group confirmed there would be "absolutely no disruption to the publication of any newspaper title."
